Phil Carman

Ward II Alderman Phil Carman

Ward II Alderman Phil Carman, a resident of Hollister for 32 years, launched his public service in 1990, when he was first elected to the Hollister Board of Aldermen. He ran for office because of his affection for Hollister and his desire to help develop Hollister in  ways that are beneficial to its citizens. Prior to holding office, Phil assisted the city's early efforts to acquire a sanitary sewer system, directed Hollister's first Old English Faire (1979-1980), and served on the Hollister Business and Professional Association Executive  Board. He deeply believes that the greatness of America is due to citizen legislators at every level of government, and he encourages people to serve their community. Phil has also served on the Hollister Planning and Zoning Commission, serves as Chairman of the TIF Commission, is a member of the Taney County Airport board and represented Hollister on the OACAC Board (2001-2003). Professionally retired, Phil Carman is a Professor Emeritus of College of the Ozarks where he was Professor of English and the Director of the Center for Writing and Thinking for 28 years.
