The Utility Clerk is responsible for the accounting of the utility system. The public works department reads meters monthly from the 12th thru 19th. The utility system consists of the water, sewer, and trash charges. Bills are mailed out by the last working day of each month and are due by the 15th of the month without a 10% penalty. All bills not paid by the 5th of the following month are scheduled for disconnection. If a meter is disconnected there is a $45.00 reconnection fee during normal office hours and $57.50 after hours.

The utility clerk is responsible for billing and collection of approximately 1,700 meters.

The utility department recommends that property owners check their homes for any type of water leak (stool running, drippy faucet, etc.) as the smallest leak can add several 1,000 gallons of water to your billing.

Utility Service: To start new utility services in the city limits, we require a $110.00 residential deposit. Commercial deposits vary based on size of meter. This deposit will be refunded when the account is closed. This service includes:

WATER 19.60 (average customer using 5,000 gallons)
SEWER 31.29 (average customer using 5,000 gallons)
State Fees and Taxes 0.60
Total $67.47

Rates listed are for a standard residential meter with an average of 5,000 gallons. This varies depending on family size and use of water, all others rates vary based on size of meter.
