The Planning Commission is also the Zoning Board for the City.  This is a volunteer board that meets once a month. The commission is an advisory board the Board of Alderman on such issues as subdivision plats, various zoning requests such as rezoning property and Special Use requests.  This Board also approves permits for work within the Historic Zoning District.

Occasionally, they recommend revisions to the Comprehensive Plan and City Land Use (Zoning) Code. They make reasonable consideration, among other things, to the character of the district and it peculiar suitability for particular uses, and with a view to conserving the values of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout Hollister.
