As our days become warmer, spring is the perfect season for garage sales. Here are a few tips from our Building Official Kathy Knight on how to post your garage sale signs. Signs are permitted to be placed 2 days prior to the start of your garage sale. DO NOT attach signs to utility poles, street signs or on property without the owner’s consent. Also be aware of site triangles for motorists when placing signs near intersections. Remember to pick up your signs before or on the last day of your sale to help keep your community looking great. If you have questions regarding garage sale signs, please contact our Building Department at 417-337-9756.

With Revive 65 a few weeks away, we want to send a huge THANK YOU to Benoit’s Tree Care!! Each spring, Benoit’s gives back to the community and helps us with a tree trimming project to prepare downtown, or one of our many parks, for the upcoming warmer weather. This year, Cedar Steps received a makeover. Scaling the 229 steps and 33 landings their team trimmed back the overgrowth and removed trees to allow Cedar Steps to be visible from top-to-bottom. Please join the City of Hollister in thanking Benoit’s Tree Care for their continued support of the Hollister Community and remember to come out and join us for Revive 65 on April 22nd.

A helpful reminder from Western Taney County Fire District Chief Chris Berndt:
Sunday is the beginning of Daylight savings time. It's time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarm. Your alarm checks for smoke every few seconds, day in and day out, so make sure that the batteries are in good working order when you need it.
Smoke alarms alert you when there is smoke in your house, this is of particular importance when you are sleeping. The human body is not trained to wake up to smoke, we are trained to wake up to sounds. The smoke alarm converts the smoke into a sound. Smoke alarms should be installed in sleeping areas and outside of sleeping areas. Do not install them in the kitchen, garage, or bathrooms. If you need assistance checking your battery or replacing your smoke alarm, contact the Western Taney County Fire District at 417-334-3440.

You may have noticed our latest visitors to Hollister if you have been down Railroad Avenue by Turkey Creek lately. Nesting high in the tree tops, a pair of bald eagles have called Hollister home for the past several months. We ask for our community to respect the eagles as you take a moment to view their beauty and enjoy one of the many benefits we have of living in the Ozarks. Thank you to Baker3 Photography for sharing this photo with the City.
