Tomorrow the City of Hollister will celebrate Independence Day and Americas 250th Birthday with our 73rd Annual Fireworks Show. If you plan to join us downtown, here are a few helpful reminders to ensure that your visit is enjoyable.
The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will host a solo exhibit featuring the work of artist Kevin Kelly entitled The Opposite of Breaking News. The show will run July 3 through August 1 at the SMAC Art Center, 7 Downing Street, in historic Hollister, MO. Kevin Kelly is a fine art painter from Wichita, Kansas. He teaches drawing and painting at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. Kelly received a Bachelor of Art Education degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Wichita State University. The opening reception will be on Friday evening, July 3, from 6-9 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. During the reception, Kelly will speak about his art and answer questions. Attendees may view the exhibit, tour the private studios, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Traffic Update - BB Hwy at Jane Street has reopened to traffic. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Please use caution when traveling in the area of Esplanade and Gray street.Construction crew's are currently working on the sewer line, and traffic delays or lane closures may occur. Please slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and consider using an alternate route if possible. Thank you for your patience.
Upgrades are coming to Braden Recreational Complex. Beginning July 6th, work will begin to resurface the current pickleball courts as well as add two additional courts. Public Works will begin installation of a new sidewalk along the parking lot and to the court area. All work is dependent on weather and is expected to take two to three weeks. During this time, the pickleball courts will be closed, and please use caution around any work zones. With the opening of fireworks stands on June 20th, it is important to review the City of Hollister ordinances, and when it is permitted to light fireworks within the city limits. The discharge of fireworks is only permitted from July 1st through July 5th, 2:00pm to 10:00pm. On July 4th, fireworks are permitted until midnight.
