The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will host a solo exhibit featuring the work of glass artist Kat Weltha, entitled We’ve Been Here The Whole Time. The show will run November 7-29 at the SMAC Art Center, 7 Downing Street, in historic Hollister, MO. A collection of fragile and intricate artworks will fill the gallery with an intriguing interplay of light and glass. The exhibit seeks to “display the spectrum of identity that has been a part of our humanity for all time,” says Weltha. The pieces depict beautifully familiar imagery while also conveying deeper meaning. The exhibit will showcase two large glass installations with over 300 pieces as well as several smaller works. The opening reception will be on Friday evening, November 7, from 6-9 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. During the reception, Weltha will speak about her art, its meaning, and her creative process. Attendees may view the exhibit, tour the private studios, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Vintage Paris Coffee kiosk will also be on site.

The beginning of Evergreen St. off of Bus. 65 will be closed on Wednesday November 5 starting at 7 a.m., as the Gas company installs a new service line. There will be detour signs indicating what route to take please follow signs thank you. We will notify when the road has been opened.

Happy Halloween! Please be alert to increased pedestrian traffic in downtown for our Annual Trunk-or-Treat on Downing Street from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Also use caution throughout the evening for trick-or-treaters visiting neighborhoods.
