The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will host a solo exhibit featuring the work of artist Kevin Kelly entitled The Opposite of Breaking News. The show will run July 3 through August 1 at the SMAC Art Center, 7 Downing Street, in historic Hollister, MO. Kevin Kelly is a fine art painter from Wichita, Kansas. He teaches drawing and painting at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. Kelly received a Bachelor of Art Education degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Wichita State University. The opening reception will be on Friday evening, July 3, from 6-9 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. During the reception, Kelly will speak about his art and answer questions. Attendees may view the exhibit, tour the private studios, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Utilities
Upgrades are coming to Braden Recreational Complex. Beginning July 6th, work will begin to resurface the current pickleball courts as well as add two additional courts. Public Works will begin installation of a new sidewalk along the parking lot and to the court area. All work is dependent on weather and is expected to take two to three weeks. During this time, the pickleball courts will be closed, and please use caution around any work zones. With the opening of fireworks stands on June 20th, it is important to review the City of Hollister ordinances, and when it is permitted to light fireworks within the city limits. The discharge of fireworks is only permitted from July 1st through July 5th, 2:00pm to 10:00pm. On July 4th, fireworks are permitted until midnight.
