Last Friday, the City of Hollister hosted our annual Legislative Reception. We welcomed our Federal and State Legislators to our community and shared the items that are important to Hollister. We also invited our area partners to join and share their priorities. We are grateful for our relationships at each level of Government, and look forward to a productive 2026.

The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will host a solo exhibit featuring the work of photographer Ivan Edson, entitled I Spy With My One Good Eye. The show will run February 6-28 at the SMAC Art Center, 7 Downing Street, in historic Hollister, MO.
This exhibit of fine art photography features stunning imagery of wildlife, landscapes, and cityscapes by local artist Ivan Edson. With an eye for detail, Edson uses photography as his artistic medium of choice, providing a creative perspective that captures the personality and mood of his subjects with exquisite clarity
The opening reception will be on Friday evening, February 6, from 6-9 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. During the reception, Edson will speak about his photography and answer questions about his work. Attendees may view the exhibit, tour the private studios, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Vintage Paris Coffee kiosk will also be on site.

There will be a brief water outage in the area of Bus 65 near tractor supply and Blue Sky LN Near Herman Lumber and the College view apartments. As public works repairs main water line. Will notify when water has been restored.
Due to the recent weather, trash services this past week have been impacted. To accommodate last week Republic will pick up extra bags this Tuesday along with your regular trash pickup. Please have all items at the curb no later than 6:00 A.M. Route times may vary due to the additional pickup. Recycling pickup will remain as scheduled.

Today, the City of Hollister celebrates the career of Police Chief Preston Schmidt. After 27 years of service to our community, Chief Schmidt is retiring and today will serve his final day as Chief. Thank you on behalf of the Elected Officials, City Staff and the entire community for your commitment to Hollister and we wish you all the best in your retirement.

The City of Hollister is welcoming a new team member this week! Mr. Josh Wildman is excited to join our Wastewater Treatment Plant as its newest Technician. Mr. Wildman and his family recently relocated to Hollister and is already feeling the strength of our community. A retired veteran of the United States Army, we are thankful for his service to his Country and his desire to serve Hollister. The Hollister Schools' Tiger Theatre Company will present their first ever 24-Hour Musical & Community Event. This is a fast-paced theatre challenge where our current students work alongside area theatre professionals and HHS theatre alumni—both onstage and behind the scenes—to rehearse, build, and produce a full musical in just 24 hours, culminating in a one night only public performance. It’s not just a show—we’re intentionally building it as a true community event. The City of Hollister team is prepping for the upcoming winter weather. In an effort to assist with snow removal, please remove trash cans and have vehicles when possible parked off the street. Please check road conditions before you travel. We would also like to remind homeowners that during colder temperatures, dripping your kitchen or bathroom faucets and leaving under sink cabinets opened help to prevent water lines from freezing.
