The City of Hollister will begin stormwater improvements at the Braden Park Pickleball Courts beginning Monday March 9th. Work is planned to take place along the area between the courts and Laurel Street, where a retaining wall will be placed to assist with water runoff. All work will be weather dependent, and courts will remain open during the work. Please use caution and stay clear from the work areas. To celebrate Read Across America and honor Dr. Seuss, Hollister’s Mayor Jeff Long and Police Chief Bert Stirewalt visited the Hollister Elementary School. Mayor Long read to the 5th graders while Chief Stirewalt read to the 3rd graders. The students not only enjoyed the stories read but also asked questions about being the Mayor and Police Chief. Thank you to Hollister Schools for the opportunity to join your students and celebrate Read Across America.


The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will present a group exhibit entitled ROOTED: The Art of Trees at the SMAC gallery at 7 Downing Street in Historic Downtown Hollister. From traditional to symbolic, from conceptual to abstract, this exhibit explores the intriguing and multi-conceptual theme of trees. Forty artists present works in a wide variety of mediums including painting, drawing, collage, photography, stained glass, and mixed media. The show runs March 6-28.
