It is hard to believe that in just 30 days, July 4th will be here. One of the most exciting and busiest days in downtown Hollister, the City looks forward to celebrating our 70th Annual Fireworks Show this year. With the help of our community last year, we were able to purchase the fireworks for this year’s show with donations only for the very first time. Our 1,000-shell show is just shy of $13,000, and our hope is to have another successful campaign to raise the funds for next year’s display. For the next 30 days, we will ask for donations to continue the tradition. If you would like to help us kick off the campaign, you may donate at City Hall, mail your donation to City of Hollister, PO Box 638, Hollister, MO 65673, or visit hollisterchamber.net to donate online. We are thankful for our partnership with the Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce and their support of our annual campaign. We can’t wait to see you on July 4th in downtown Hollister to celebrate Independence Day, and what it means to live in a great community!

As our city is heading into storm season, where we have hail, tornadoes, and wind damage, Building Official Kathy Knight reminds residents and businesses to please take caution when a company comes knocking on your door after the storm. These are usually storm chasers and not from our area. 95% of the time, these companies do not have a City of Hollister business license even though they will tell you they do. Call your insurance company and ask for recommended contractors to complete your repairs. Please call City Hall to confirm they have a Hollister business license and speak with the Building Department regarding building codes and permits. The City of Hollister Staff is here to help you!
